ANGES – National Association of Social Gerontology<\/strong> was founded on July 30, 2012, in the city of Coimbra, with the aim of intervening in the field of social gerontology, constituting a differential milestone in the field of this science. Realizing the emerging phenomenon of the ageing of the Portuguese population, the country’s technical and scientific preparation must be guaranteed, so that the Herculean challenge of guaranteeing quality of life for the elderly can be fully met.<\/p>\n

ANGES is therefore a non-profit association whose aim is to promote active and successful ageing in all its different forms. ANGES<\/strong> aims to collaborate with public and private authorities in intervention plans related to social organizations, regardless of the type of social response and the economic purpose. It also aims to create bodies (departments, councils and research units, regional delegations and other international representations), and to contribute to the professional development of all employees and managers of social organizations, developing training actions in the different areas in which they work. Nevertheless, the association aims to organize and disseminate technical and scientific information, as well as contributing to the development, sustainability, financial organization and quality of social responses, through consultancy and the design of support materials. It also encourages participation in consortia and projects with the aim of promoting innovation and social entrepreneurship.
